Family Day Weekend - Tyrannosaurs!

Spend Family Day Weekend with dinosaurs! Bring the whole family to see the new Tyrannosaurs: Meet the Family exhibit!

As a special treat we'll have face painting happening on Saturday from noon to 3:30 p.m.!

First time in North America!

Tyrannosaurs: Meet the Family is a fun and interactive exhibit that explores the world of the T-Rex! The whole family will love this amazing exhibit. Included with general admission.

Saturday, February 18 

Noon – Dinosaur Dig
What’s hidden underneath? Try to discover the dinosaur hiding under the paint! 

1 p.m. – When Dinosaurs Pooped on the Earth
Let’s put the ‘stink’ in extinct! What can dinosaur poop tell us?

2 p.m. – A World, A Part
How can we find the same tyrannosaurs in North America and Asia? Learn about Pangaea and complete a puzzle! 

3 p.m. - When Dinosaurs Pooped on the Earth
Let’s put the ‘stink’ in extinct! What can dinosaur poop tell us? 

4 p.m. - Dinosaur Dig
What’s hidden underneath? Try to discover the dinosaur hiding under the paint!


The following activities are being offered all day in our main foyer:

Geology Rocks!
Igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic – what do they all have in common? Join us to find out!

Fascinating Fossils
Join one of our staff members to unearth a fossilized fish encased in rock!

Skeleton Reconstruction
Pretend to be a paleontologist and reconstruct a dinosaur skeleton. 

Dinosaur Design
Create your own dinosaur! Will it have wings? Sharp teeth? Spikes? Or all three? 

Dinosaur Door Hanger
Make a dinosaur door hanger to take home!

Monday, February 20
 - Family Day!

* 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Tyrannosaur Balloons with Drew Ripley 
World Class Balloon Twister Drew Ripley, local entertainer and artist, visits the Waterloo Region Museum to create your favourite requested Tyrannosaurs out of balloons. Try to stump him with your new found knowledge as he magically manipulates air into a desired dinosaur.

10:30 a.m. – Dinosaur Dig
What’s hidden underneath? Try to discover the dinosaur hiding under the paint!

11:30 a.m. – A World, A Part
How can we find the same tyrannosaurs in North America and Asia? Learn about Pangaea and complete a puzzle!

12:30 p.m. - When Dinosaurs Pooped on the Earth
Let’s put the ‘stink’ in extinct! What can dinosaur poop tell us?

* 1 to 4 p.m. - Wild Ontario: Birds of Prey
Wild Ontario brings birds of prey for Family Day ONLY! Don’t forget to bring your camera, as you get up close with avian dinosaurs!
