Museum Building Grand Foyer

The Grand Foyer is a magnificent space with seating for more than 450 theatre style, or up to 150 for a seated dinner.  The Grand Foyer features soaring walls of Ontario limestone and repurposed barn timbers from a 19th century Waterloo Region barn that create an amazing and unique ambience for any special event.

Christie®  Theatre

A 114-seat theatre adjacent to the beautiful Grand Foyer of the Waterloo Region Museum. The Christie Digital Theatre is ideal for special events that could include film festivals, lectures, and concerts. The theatre features a state-of-the-art projection and audio system.

Meeting Room - Classroom A

Waterloo Region Museum features three versatile meeting rooms that are ideal for business or community meetings. The largest of the meeting rooms can accommodate up to 125 people depending on room set up. All three classrooms feature retractable whiteboard walls that open to create bigger rooms when classrooms are used together.

Meeting Rooms - Classrooms B & C

The museum also features two smaller rooms called Classroom B & C that are ideal for smaller groups of up to 25 people depending on room setup. All three classrooms feature windows that looks into the picturesque setting of Doon Heritage Village.

Museum Building Outdoor Classroom

Outside the museum's indoor classrooms is a wonderful outdoor classroom, with fixed seating and umbrellas that looks out on the farm fields of the Peter Martin Farm. During the summer months, you may see a cow and calf, or other farm livestock, grazing in this field. This is a wonderful space to extend an indoor educational or meeting experience to the outdoors.

Freeport Church

The Freeport Church is available for weddings, holy unions, and commitment ceremonies. Capacity of the Freeport Church is 100 people. The historic church features an antique pump organ, operating church bell, and historic oil lamps.

Willow Green Gazebo

Outdoor facilities are also available on the museum grounds that accomodate larger groups. Whether you are looking for a space for a wedding, birthday or special event, we can accommodate you and offer engaging space for your group or event.

Facility Rental Guidelines

Renting rooms in the facility for a private function does not secure exclusive use of the facility; only the space rented. Activities shall not interfere with normal public operation of the museum and must be consistent with the museum's mission as an educational and cultural institution. Museum exhibitions, collections and furnishings may not be altered or removed. Waterloo Region Museum reserves the right to waive or modify the stated guidelines.
